This Filipino Card Game Turns Plant Chemistry Into a Battle
Imagine sitting down for a card game and being asked to cure an illness using medicinal plants. 🃏 That is the idea behind Herbularyo, a tabletop game created by researchers from the Ateneo de Manila University’s Department of Chemistry and Health Sciences. Players take on the role of traditional healers. To treat illnesses, they must match plants with the correct active organic compounds. They can also play Sumpa or Curse cards to make things harder for their opponents. It brings together Filipino healing traditions, real plant science, and the kind of friendly competition that might make everyone forget they are learning organic chemistry.
